This page gathers simple, reliable Hunter macros for WoW Classic – usable in Classic Era, Hardcore and Season of Discovery. They’re designed to be easy to remember, reduce keybind bloat, and work well with most UIs and addon setups.

General Hunter Macros
Core macros that work for any Hunter spec.
All-in-One Pull: Hunter’s Mark + Auto Shot + Pet Attack
Marks the target, starts Auto Shot and sends your pet in – perfect for easy, spammy pulls.
Works great as your default opener button.
#showtooltip Hunter's Mark
/cast Hunter's Mark
/cast !Auto Shot
/petattack
How it works
Tap this key on a new target and it will apply Hunter’s Mark, start Auto Shot, and send your pet in. If you already have Hunter’s Mark up, it just re-uses Auto Shot + pet attack.
Serpent Sting + Auto Shot Opener
Applies your DoT and immediately starts firing, great for questing and kiting.
This assumes you always want Serpent Sting running on your main target.
#showtooltip Serpent Sting
/cast Serpent Sting
/cast !Auto Shot
- Press on a new mob → applies Serpent Sting and starts Auto Shot.
- Spam on the same mob → keeps shooting; does not clip your Auto Shot by recasting it.
Feign Death + Freezing Trap Control Macro
Quickly drop combat then place a Freezing Trap under your target – classic Hunter control tool.
#showtooltip Freezing Trap
/stopattack
/cast Feign Death
/cast Freezing Trap
- Use while being chased → you feign, drop aggro, and place a trap at your feet.
- Great for controlling dangerous melee mobs in dungeons or open world.
Traps can only be placed out of combat in Classic, which is why this macro uses Feign Death first. Depending on lag and resist chances, you may need to press it twice to get a clean trap down.

Beast Mastery Hunter Macros
Focus on pet control and burst windows with your beast.
Smart Pet Control: Attack / Follow / Panic Stop
One key to send your pet in, call it back, or instantly stop it from breaking CC.
#showtooltip
/petattack [harm,nodead]
/petfollow [mod:shift][noharm][dead]
/petpassive [mod:alt]
- Tap normally → pet attacks your current hostile target.
- Hold Shift → pet follows you (great to pull it out of AoE).
- Hold Alt → sets pet to Passive to avoid breaking CC.
Bestial Wrath + Trinket Burst
Stack Bestial Wrath with your on-use trinkets for big red pet moments.
#showtooltip Bestial Wrath
/use 13
/use 14
/cast Bestial Wrath
- /use 13 and /use 14 = your on-use trinket slots.
- Use right before your main damage window (boss pull, execute phases, big add waves).

Marksmanship Hunter Macros
These focus on Aimed Shot / Multi-Shot and smooth ranged DPS flow.
Aimed Shot + Auto Shot (No Dead Air)
Helps you keep Aimed Shot flowing without forgetting Auto Shot.
#showtooltip Aimed Shot
/cast Aimed Shot
/cast !Auto Shot
- Cast Aimed Shot and immediately resume Auto Shot afterwards.
- Good for long-range openers in dungeons and raids.
Multi-Shot / Arcane Shot Priority Button
Use Multi-Shot as your default, and hold a modifier for Arcane Shot.
#showtooltip
/startattack
/cast [mod:shift] Arcane Shot; Multi-Shot
- Press normally → casts Multi-Shot when off cooldown.
- Hold Shift → uses Arcane Shot instead (good for single-target or when you must avoid extra pulls).

Survival Hunter Macros
Designed around kiting, melee emergency tools and control.
Raptor Strike + Start Attack
Your “oh no it’s in my face” melee button – starts attacking and uses Raptor Strike.
#showtooltip Raptor Strike
/startattack
/cast Raptor Strike
Kiting Tool: Wing Clip / Concussive Shot
Use Wing Clip in melee range, or slow at range with Concussive Shot via modifier.
#showtooltip
/cast [mod:shift] Concussive Shot; Wing Clip
- Press normally in melee → applies Wing Clip so you can run.
- Hold Shift at range → uses Concussive Shot to slow from afar.
Panic Button: Feign Death + Stop Attack
Quickly drops your threat when you’ve pulled too much or out-aggroed the tank.
#showtooltip Feign Death
/stopattack
/cast Feign Death
Use this whenever you see mobs turning toward you or your threat meter going crazy. Stopping your attacks before Feign Death helps avoid instantly re-pulling when you stand up.
How to Create Macros in WoW Classic
- Press Esc → click Macros (or type /macro).
- Choose General (for all characters) or Character Specific.
- Click New, pick an icon, and give it a name.
- Paste the macro text from this page into the large text box.
- Drag the macro icon onto your action bar.
If a macro doesn’t work:
- Check spelling of abilities (language & rank don’t matter in Classic, but names must match).
- Make sure the skill is learned.
- Try removing other addons that modify macros or action bars.
