    World of Warcraft: Forever is bringing fresh ground to explore alongside reimagined corners of the original world. A recent Wowhead Classic Series preview highlights both entirely new regions and expanded zones woven into the level 1–60 journey, with more than a thousand new quests across Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor.

    If you’ve been waiting for an excuse to reroll or dust off your questing UI, the lineup looks promising: Mount Hyjal, Shen’dralas, the Riverglades, and a skybound starting experience on Zephras Isle. Below is a practical look at what each area emphasizes, based on the preview.

    Mount Hyjal

    Hyjal is positioned after Archimonde’s defeat, with the zone focusing on recovery and what comes next for the land. The preview also calls out Darkwhisper Gorge, suggesting the southern reaches will matter in your route. Expect story beats about restoration and faction involvement as you help shape a recovering zone.

    Shen’dralas

    Between Mulgore and Desolace lies a long-hidden thread now becoming a full zone story. Shen’dralas ties into the Shen’dralar, Eldre’Thalas and Dire Maul, plus the centaur tribes of the region. If you enjoy Classic-era lore that bridges familiar places, this looks like a connective chapter with plenty of questlines pulling on Dire Maul history.

    The Riverglades

    A frontier of rivers, grasslands, trade routes, and strained communities—Riverglades reads like a quester’s playground. The preview mentions more than 150 new quests here, aimed at much of the mid-30s to mid-40s leveling band. Bank on a lot of breadcrumbs, local conflicts, and faction reputations to juggle as you plan an efficient circuit.

    Zephras Isle (1–12) and the Skyborne

    Zephras Isle offers a level 1–12 “elemental skybound” starting experience that blends Classic aesthetics with Skywall-inspired architecture. It’s also home to the Skyborne, a new playable race with a faction choice at character creation. According to the preview, Horde-aligned Skyborne embrace elemental traditions and can be Shamans, while Alliance-aligned Skyborne pursue their arcane legacy and can be Mages. The zone sets an aerial, elemental tone for early leveling before you head into the wider world.

    Practical takeaways for your UI

    With so many quests threaded through classic continents—and entire arcs like Riverglades and Shen’dralas—this looks like a strong moment to tidy your leveling interface. Keep your quest tracker readable, prune outdated macros you no longer use, and make room for zone-specific keybinds (target markers, interrupt focus, mount or travel toggles) so you aren’t fighting your UI while exploring. If you track lore or reputation notes, consider a simple notepad addon or macros for quick waypoints and reminders. The goal is to spend your time following the new storylines, not wrestling with clutter.

    Burning Crusade Classic Phase 3 PTR: Black Temple and Hyjal Testing Aug 14–17

    Blizzard has opened the Burning Crusade Classic Phase 3 PTR, with Black Temple and The Battle for Mount Hyjal scheduled for raid testing from August 14 through August 17. If you’ve been waiting to shake down your raid UI in Illidan and Archimonde’s houses, this is your weekend.     Phase 3 itself is planned to go live on August 27 at 3:00 p.m. PDT / 6:00 p.m. EDT, per Blizzard’s notes linked above.

    What’s included in Phase 3 (per Blizzard)

    According to the PTR development notes, Phase 3 brings:

    • New raids: Black Temple (Illidan) and The Battle for Mount Hyjal (Archimonde).
    • New daily faction and quest hub: The Netherwing in Shadowmoon Valley.
    • Arena Season 3, with new rewards and updated progression.
    • Epic gems.

    Raid testing schedule

    Blizzard plans to enable PTR raid testing at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 14, with testing concluding at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, August 17. These windows and the participating raids (Black Temple and Mount Hyjal) are reiterated in Wowhead’s post and the Blizzard raid-testing note.

    Note: Blizzard’s raid-testing times above were posted without a timezone. The Phase 3 launch time was specified as 3:00 p.m. PDT / 6:00 p.m. EDT in the same forum thread.

    For this raid test, Blizzard is also trying out Haste and Destruction potions that can be obtained with Marks of Illidari from Phase 3 raids, alongside the usual flask redemptions. That detail comes directly from the raid-testing update.

    Quick UI prep if you’re hopping onto PTR

    This is a good window to sanity-check your raid setup in Outland-scale encounters. Keep it simple: make sure your boss mods are enabled, your raid frames show the debuffs you actually care about, your cooldown tracking is readable, and your logging/benchmark tools are toggled on. If you’re planning to play with the potion redemptions, consider surfacing your Marks of Illidari count somewhere visible so you don’t have to dig for it between pulls.

    Blizzard has officially dated Phase 3 for The Burning Crusade Anniversary realms: a global launch on August 27 at 3:00 pm PDT (23:00 BST). This was confirmed by Wowhead’s announcement roundup and covered by Blizzard Watch, which also links to the official Blizzard news post. If you saw the earlier BlizzardCS Discord leak pointing to August 13, consider that superseded by the August 27 announcement.

    Phase 3 brings the two headline raids — Black Temple and The Battle for Mount Hyjal — along with the Netherwing daily quest hub in Shadowmoon Valley and the arrival of Epic Gems. Wowhead’s post notes the global timing and core features, while Blizzard Watch outlines the content and how to get in the door for each raid.

    What opens in Phase 3

    Black Temple (Shadowmoon Valley, level 70) is the big ticket. Blizzard Watch calls out that you’ll need to complete the BT attunement that begins with “The Tablets of Baa’ri,” with the starting NPC depending on Aldor or Scryer alignment. Inside, you’ll earn Ashtongue Deathsworn reputation and access a vendor once you’ve progressed. Wowhead’s roundup also reiterates the boss roster all the way through Illidan Stormrage.

    The Battle for Mount Hyjal is accessed via the Caverns of Time and requires completing “The Vials of Eternity” questline (per Blizzard Watch). Reputation here is Scale of the Sands with rewards from an in-raid vendor. Wowhead additionally notes you don’t need to be in a raid group just to enter the instance.

    Beyond raiding, the Netherwing daily hub opens on Netherwing Ledge in Shadowmoon Valley. You’ll need a flying mount to reliably reach it, and the grind culminates in the well-known Netherwing drakes at Exalted.     Arena players should note Blizzard Watch’s timing: Arena Season 2 ends on August 18 with Arena points converting to Honor at 1:10, and Arena Season 3 begins September 1 after maintenance. If you plan to PvP between raid nights, set expectations around those dates.

    Quick UI prep for Illidan, Hyjal waves, and Netherwing dailies

    Most of Phase 3 success is logistics. A few small UI tweaks will smooth your first weeks:

    • Update your boss mods and raid frames ahead of raid night; Hyjal in particular rewards clean nameplates for add waves and reliable interrupt/taunt tracking.
    • Track attunement steps: show quest objectives for “The Tablets of Baa’ri” (BT) and “The Vials of Eternity” (Hyjal) so you don’t burn time mid-week. Blizzard Watch’s write-up covers both requirements.
    • Pin your reputation bars for Ashtongue Deathsworn and Scale of the Sands so you can watch vendor unlocks without digging through the reputation pane.
    • Prep a daily route for Netherwing: bind a clean mount macro, keep your bag space clear for egg finds, and consider a simple timer or checklist for the hub’s repeatables.
    • Gems and sockets: leave room to re-socket BiS pieces; double-check your UI shows socket bonuses and gem stats accurately once Epic Gems enter the pool.

    Tip: Hyjal’s trash comes in scripted waves. If your UI supports it, show cast bars and debuffs prominently on incoming adds and prioritize clear audio cues for fears, knockbacks, and interrupts.
